Festival success of director Kaspar Jancis’ animated film Piano continues!

Eesti Joonisfilm is proud to announce that Kaspar Jancis’ 2015 animated film Piano continues to enjoy success at international festivals.

On the evening of Wednesday, 18 October, the awards were announced at the 2017 Córdoba International Animation Festival (ANIMA) in Argentina. Kaspar Jancis’ Piano was awarded the title of Best Animated Film by the Jury. ANIMA is Argentina’s most important animated film festival and also highly influential in Latin America.

The film has previously participated in festivals around the world and brought home awards from festivals in Russia, Georgia, and Bulgaria and Greece. During the year of its debut, Piano was presented with the Cultural Endowment of Estonia’s Audio-Visual Foundation Annual Award for Animated Film 2015.

Piano is a film without main characters where the lives of characters that have lost their head intertwine in a dramatic and less dramatic way in an ordinary concrete panel apartment building.

The film was completed at the Eesti Joonisfilm studio in 2015, with the completion of the film being supported by the Estonian Film Institute and the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
